Corporal Cameron Baird Life Size Statue Project

One of our proudest moments was the unveiling of the life size statue of CPL Cameron Baird VC MG at the Currumbin RSL. Unveiled by The Governor General, His Excellency the Honorable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC on the 5th of November 2016.

This statue which is the result of amazing financial support from fundraising, stands to honor Australia 100th Victorian Cross Recipient but to also stand as a symbol of respect for all the 42 lives that were lost in Afghanistan.

The statue stands to represent Australia’s modern day warfare and the stories of bravery that are unheard.

Well over 500 soldiers have been permanently affected by physical injuries sustained in battle.

What is more alarming are the increasing numbers of psychological injuries that soldiers are facing such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) depression and anxiety.

In addition to the life size bronze statue we have produced a limited edition 30cm statuette. We have a total of 2000 statuettes. Each is individually numbered with a pewter coin that will accompany the statuette.

Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG Statuettes cost $195.00 (plus postage). From each purchase of a 30cm statuette $95.00 will go directly to the development and production of the life size statue of Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG.

Commando Wellness Camps

The key initiative Cams Cause is supporting in 2018 is funding the Wellness Camps for returned service people.  These camps cost approx. $11K to set up and then approx. $4k per camp to run.  They are looking at running 3-4 camps per year.

Well over 500 soldiers have been permanently effected by physical injuries sustained in battle. What is more alarming are the increasing numbers of psychological injuries that soldiers are facing such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) depression and anxiety.

Cam’s Cause is looking long into the future regarding the need to help with soldier welfare.  Through networking with some of Cameron’s close friends within the 2nd Commando Regiment there is an amazing opportunity to make a difference and help soldiers that may be struggling with the effects of serving in the elite 2nd Commando Regiment. Which is a division of Australia’s Special Forces Task Group.

The team aims to raise much needed funds to help build specially designed camps that provide a unique environment incorporating general outdoor activities and specialist help that have been created by the 2nd Commando Regiments Human Performance Wing.

These camps have been created for Commandos by Commandos and are proven to make a difference in assisting recovery from physical and mental injuries.

We could think of no better way to honour Cameron than assisting his beloved 2nd Commando Regiment and the soldiers that protect our way of life from the frontline.
